Borrowing a view

In north Essex this new build home had a garden laid solely to lawn with a fantastic rural view. When the homeowner saw the home, they fell in love with the view. As such, we designed the garden around borrowing this view. We achieved this through a series of zones drawing attention further out across the garden leading to the Essex countryside.

The garden has been created for a family who love to be outside. The garden includes, a sun lovers’ patio, outdoor dining area, outdoor kitchen, vegetable garden, outdoor living space and a wildflower meadow with mown paths for their grand kids to play.

Utilising curving forms and rustic materials, such as red clay pavers and rusted Corten steel, we produced a garden which sits subtly with the local vernacular and frames the countryside. Along with, a faded planting scheme which blends from ornamental planting to the wildflower meadow that merges with the wildlife site beyond.
