The Sanctuary

The design brief for this garden had a single line, ‘To create a private sanctuary’.

Nestled into an urban environment The Sanctuary provides a private escape for this once heavily overlooked garden. The hard landscape materials have been selected to connect to the period home and blend with the naturalistic theme of the garden. Soft landscaping has been used extensively to create privacy and serenity, which aids in defining the zones. The zones include spaces for cooking, dinning, relaxing and working.

Within the garden, the semipermeable planting dapples the view between the zones of the garden and allow for sunlight to lightly dance across the spaces. On the larger scale, the semi permeable trees and planting combine to create a dense screen making the garden private and peaceful. The light rustle of foliage and the gentle bubbling of the water feature soften external noise and maximise tranquillity.

At this time the garden is still on the drawing board, but we hope to break ground soon.
